I've had a week to read the stories of the Virginia Tech shootings. It's a terrible tragedy but I can't figure out how it could have been prevented. The shooter was obviously sick/demented. I cannot believe Bush signed a bill to build a 700-mile fence along the border with Mexico. Is that really going to do anything useful? Probably not. And how are we paying for this enormous waste?
